workshop   English/German

This hands-on workshop will lead you to a full blown multi-node setup with Controller, 3x Compute and NetNode on your >=8 GB laptop and is easily extendable. The way we install the whole setup allows you to use the full (not! nested) virtualization power of your CPU and almost all of the RAM for your VMs, so that real life workloads of OpenStack are possible (within the scope of your laptops CPU).

You will install the setup in a specially prepared, containerized virtual environment using Fedora or any other recent distribution. With this setup it is also possible to test and try out things like IPA integration or special storage environments like NFS or Ceph. We will touch those capabilities as well.

So if you are an operator of OpenStack, a developer, tester or consultant and in constant resource pressure for doing real tests with multiple machines, then this workshop is for you! You can use the setup for many purposes as testing features, easily extending and rebuilding setups, PoCs, learning, developing and preparation of presentations. This solution solves many problems with a limited set of resources, avoiding the typical virtualized approach which lead to high resource consumption and limiting the stack to nested-virtualization at best – so preventing real workloads on the rolled out stack.
